Unter ihrem Chefredakteur Benjamin Bradlee (* 1921) entwickelte sich die Washington Post in den 1970er-Jahren von einer Hauptstadtzeitung zu einem weltweit beachteten Blatt. 1972-74 enthüllte sie die Watergate-Affäre. Auflage (2000): 763 000 Exemplare.
